Buy / Source / Trade

A successful buying process starts with deciding what your next watch should be. Sometimes clients know exactly what they want. Other times we arrive at the right answer by exploring what they like, their style, budget, size, preferred brands and models, etc. Occasionally, I’ll have just the right watch in inventory, but often the right piece needs to be sourced.

Buy/Trade with peace of mind.

Before a sale is completed, every piece I sell is authenticated and tested. I warranty sold watches for 60 days. If the watch stops working properly during this time, you will be given instructions on how to send it back to me. The watch will then be serviced by one of the best watchmakers in the Chicago area and returned to you all at no charge.

Sometimes clients want to get out of a watch. They may not be wearing it, want to trade it in for a different watch or want to redeploy their capital for another use.

I make the process fast and painless. Clients can sell or trade back any watch they have bought in the last 12 months and receive 80% of what they paid in cash or credit towards their next watch from us (if the watch is in essentially the same condition it was when they first purchased it).

How does “sourcing” work?

I continue to grow a network of vetted watch dealers and traders. We work together, sharing our inventory, so that our client’s desires can often be readily fulfilled.

Essentially creating a wholesaling network that helps us find the right watches for our clients.
Here are the steps:

  1. Fill out the Source/Trade Form.
  2. We then chat to explore options that fit your budget, taste, wrist size and lifestyle. Once we identify your next watch, the hunt begins.
  3. You send a deposit of 20% of your max price. While it is unlikely, if I don’t find you the right watch in 20 days, your deposit will be returned.
  4. I send you pictures and descriptions of prospective watches. Once you approve one a commitment is made. The deposit is used to secure the watch. The balance is then sent to me and I buy the watch.
  5. When I receive the watch, I inspect it, test it and make sure the condition matches the pictures and descriptions we were provided. While I’m always available to clients, this is a nice time to do a video chat with the watch.
  6. I then take the watch to the watchmaker for additional testing and authentication.
  7. Once the watch checks out, I ship the watch to you, overnight and insured via FedEx. For security reasons, the watch will be shipped to a Fed Ex location for pick-up or a business address.
  8. I provide a 60-day warranty (there may also be time left on the manufacturer’s warranty). If there are any issues during this time, fixing it is my responsibility. If it can’t be rectified, your money will be promptly returned to you.
  9. Watches sold, sourced or received in trade by me can also be sold back or traded for 80% of the original purchase price within one year if the piece is in essentially the same condition.
